FAQ

We get asked some basic questions all the time. If you're interested in one of our products or services and you have a question, this is a great place to start. If you don't get the answer you're looking for, please feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help. Thanks!

Q. Can I get a custom pickguard for my guitar?

A. Yes, we can do any inlay on a standard Tele pick guard. You can see pricing here. We need the guitar in front of us to ensure proper fit for any custom shape pickguards. We can create any shape and inlay of your choice if you would like to send us the body. A drawing/tracing won't work because we can't guarantee fit. If you have an original pickguard off the guitar we're making the new pickguard for, that may work. Please send a photo and email us, we'd love to take a look.

Q. Will I need to route my guitar for your pickups?

A. Yes, all of our current pickups require routing. You can see each of the routing diagrams in our Store next to each pickup. If you don't have experience in this area, we recommend you get help from a qualified Luthier. If not done correctly, you can damage the guitar, pickup or both.

Q. What are the base prices for TK Smith® guitars?

A. All of our guitars are custom so if you have an idea, feel free to contact us for pricing. Below is basic information and links to an example of each of the guitar models we make. All can be modified to your specifications and you can see more examples throughout our website and instagram feed.
To get in line for custom builds or modifications, we take a $1000 non-refundable deposit. 1/3 total due when your project goes on the bench. Balance due upon completion.

Payment for deposits and guitars is by cash, money order or wire transfer. All payments for International guitar deposits and sales by wire transfer in US dollars only. (We can accept Paypal with an additional 4% added to all guitar payments)

Q. Do you have a warranty on custom guitars?
A. Yes.

Q. What are shipping costs to my country?

A. We ship all over the world so if you need to know shipping cost for parts and accessories from our website store, you can walk through the purchase process and see what the shipping will be based on your purchase. You can still cancel the transaction at that point. Your purchase will include insurance so its difficult for us to tell you before hand. Price is based on the value of the items you are interested in and its different for each country. Parts and accessories are shipped USPS. Guitars are shipped UPS or Fed Ex. If you live outside the U.S.A. and have a preferred shipper, just let us know.

*Please note: Orders shipped outside of the U.S. are subject to regular customs duties and fees levied by the destination country.
